Why Creators Are Leaving Taplio (and Where They're Going)

Most people who leave Taplio leave for one of four reasons: the price, AI posts that sound like everyone else's, worries about their LinkedIn account, or paying for features they never use. Where they go depends on which reason it was. Supergrow is the closest swap. AuthoredUp is for people who'd rather write their own posts. Buffer is for people who only need scheduling. And a plain AI chat tool is enough for some.

Taplio is still a strong tool, and plenty of people are happy with it. But if you're thinking about leaving, here's what other users say, and where they end up.

Why people leave Taplio

We read reviews on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, and review blogs, plus what people post on Reddit and X. One warning first: a lot of the "Taplio review" articles online are written by competing tools. We only kept the complaints that show up again and again.

1. The price adds up

Taplio's plans, billed monthly (Taplio pricing):

PlanMonthlyWhat you get
Starter$39Scheduling, analytics, 250 AI credits a month
Growth$69More AI, viral post ideas, team features
Pro$199Unlimited AI, lead outreach tools

Yearly billing brings these down to $32, $49, and $149 a month.

$39 isn't much for a full-time creator. But many people use Taplio mostly to write and schedule posts. For that job, $39 to $69 a month feels like a lot, since cheaper tools do the same thing.

2. The AI posts sound generic

This is the most common complaint. Taplio's AI learns from a big library of viral LinkedIn posts. That helps with structure. But many users say the drafts sound like every other LinkedIn post, and they spend a long time editing each one to sound like themselves.

That matters more now. LinkedIn has said it shows less of posts that read like low-effort AI content. Posts that sound like you do better.

3. Credits run out

On the lower plans, AI use is capped. Some users say they hit the limit mid-month and couldn't buy more without upgrading.

4. Worries about account safety

LinkedIn's rules ban browser extensions that automate actions like liking, commenting, or sending messages. Some of Taplio's engagement and outreach features run through a Chrome extension.

To be fair: we found no solid proof of anyone being banned just for scheduling or writing posts with Taplio. Most of the scary stories come from competitors. But some users don't want the risk at all, so they move to tools that only use LinkedIn's official connection, or that don't touch LinkedIn directly.

5. They don't use most of it

Taplio does a lot: writing, scheduling, analytics, a viral post library, comments, lead lists, and DMs. If you only use two of those, you're paying for the rest.

6. Billing surprises

Some reviews mention renewals they didn't expect, or slow replies when trying to cancel. This isn't the most common complaint, but it comes up. If you're leaving, cancel under Settings, then Billing, before your renewal date. Taplio offers a refund within 30 days of a payment.

Where they go

Supergrow: the closest swap

Supergrow does most of what Taplio does: AI writing, scheduling, a carousel maker, and analytics. Its "Postcast" feature interviews you and turns your answers into posts, so the ideas come from you, not a library.

  • Price: Pro is $39 a month ($31 yearly). Teams is $199 a month for 5 accounts. 7-day free trial. (Supergrow)
  • Good for: people who like Taplio's all-in-one setup.
  • Watch out: it's now the same price as Taplio Starter, so price alone isn't a reason to switch.

AuthoredUp: for people who write their own posts

AuthoredUp is a writing tool, not a ghostwriter. You get a better editor, previews of how your post looks on phone and desktop, a hook library, scheduling, and analytics.

  • Price: $19.95 a month for one profile. Free trial, no card needed. (AuthoredUp)
  • Good for: people who already write well and want better tools around it.
  • Watch out: if you want AI to draft for you, this isn't it.

Buffer: for people who just need scheduling

If the main thing you used Taplio for was the calendar, Buffer does that for much less.

  • Price: free for 3 channels. Paid plans start at $5 per channel a month. (Buffer)
  • Good for: people who write posts themselves and just want them out on time.
  • Watch out: its LinkedIn analytics are basic next to Taplio's.

Reshaper AI: for people who already make videos or podcasts

If you have YouTube videos, Reels, podcasts, or voice notes, Reshaper AI turns them into LinkedIn posts (and X, Threads, and Instagram posts). The ideas come from your own content, so the posts start out closer to how you talk.

  • Price: free to try with 10 credits. Creator is $49 a month and Pro is $149 a month. Both are on sale until December 31, 2026, for $25 and $99.
  • Good for: creators who talk better than they write.
  • Watch out: it doesn't have Taplio's viral post library, lead tools, or deep LinkedIn analytics. Scheduling goes through Buffer.

ChatGPT or Claude: for people who want to keep it simple

Some people drop paid LinkedIn tools and just use an AI chat tool with a good prompt and a few of their own posts as examples. It costs about $20 a month, and you can use it for everything else too.

  • Good for: people who post a few times a week and don't need a calendar.
  • Watch out: no scheduling or analytics, and you'll have to keep pasting in your examples.

Who should stay on Taplio

Taplio is still a good fit if:

  • You use the lead outreach tools to find clients.
  • You check your LinkedIn analytics every week.
  • You like browsing viral posts for ideas.
  • You post every day and want everything in one place.

If that's you, switching will probably cost you more time than it saves.

Before you switch

  1. Write down what you actually used last month. That's the list your new tool has to cover.
  2. Export your posts and drafts. Copy anything you want to keep before you cancel.
  3. Try the new tool for a week first. Most of these have free trials.
  4. Cancel before your renewal date. Then check your email for the confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Why are people leaving Taplio?

The most common reasons are the price, AI posts that sound generic, credit limits on the cheaper plans, worries about LinkedIn account safety, and paying for features they don't use.

What's the best Taplio alternative?

It depends on why you're leaving. Supergrow is the closest all-in-one swap. AuthoredUp is best if you write your own posts. Buffer is cheapest if you only need scheduling.

Is Taplio safe for my LinkedIn account?

Does Taplio's Starter plan include AI writing?

Yes, as of October 2026. The $39 Starter plan includes 250 AI credits a month. Unlimited AI is on the $199 Pro plan.

Can I get a refund from Taplio?

Taplio says you can ask for a refund within 30 days of a payment. You can cancel under Settings, then Billing.
